Dorothea MacKellar said it best – “I love her far horizons, I love her jewel seas, Her beauty and her terror, The wide brown land for me” – My Country. Enjoy my ramblings as once again we Travel Around Oz.
Here We Go Again
Here We Go Again – Chapter 1 – Getting Ready
I spent a day running around, refilling the gas bottles, the jerry cans for petrol (for the generator) and diesel ( as a “just in case” for the Cruiser) and placed and refilled the drinking water jerry cans. The reservoirs in the van have been turned over continually as we use the van on the shorter jaunts.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 2 – Smiths Lake to Coffs Harbour
Sleep is an easy effort. It has been a long day and evening but the joy of the fellowship with our friends made it a very memorable first day on the road.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 3 – Coffs Harbour to Lennox Head
Slowing down, that damn alarm blares again. Upon getting to the park it stops as Robyn opens her door. Must remember that for the next Toyota dealer to look at.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 4 – Lennox Head to Maroochydore
If you want to experience the real bush rather than the people polluted tourist spots, then this is a skill we are needing to develop.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 5 – Maroochydore to Woodford
Wallie talks of the Secret Men’s Business Club and how they solve the world’s problems but on return to their wives are short on the memory of how. Funny what alcohol can do.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 6 – Woodford Day 2
We start him and Wallie off with a Gentlemen Jack in one of the ½ litre tin mugs. The girls are into Robyn’s bubbles. Forbsy breaks out the sausage rolls and the meeting is called to order.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 7 – Woodford Day 3
The banter around the fire continues with Walie regaling us of his extensie yachting experiences. From running alcohol to coming through the Panama Canal and pirate encounters.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 8 – Woodford to Hervey Bay
As we slow and meander through Porchester we see the meeting of the Secret Mens Club. I toot and Wallie waves. In New South Wales that is a driving offence – but who cares
Here We Go Again – Chapter 9 – Hervey Bay Day 2
Sunset over Hervey Bay around a table of wine, cheese and bickies with friends is a bit hard to take.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 10 – Hervey Bay Day 3 (Fraser Island)
Amazing creeks and coloured sands are experienced, as are the forays off the beach and into the bush to circumvent the need to drive into the ocean around rocky outcrops.
Here We Go Again – Chapter 11 – Hervey Bay Day 4
Time to go home and dine. Not fish, but the fillet steaks we have in the fridge. Always good to have a back up plan.
