Here We Go Again

On the road again with Silver Leader, his wife Rose and Forbsy. A slightly different plan this time, with much less time constraints but with plenty of unexpected issues like Covid. Forbsy needs to be home early but will be with us up the east coast. Thankfully we have Silver Leader with his administrative skills to work us through the over booked caravan parks and weather of indifference. In time we will part from them too but for now its three vans off again on a adventure around Australia

The womenfolk are relentless with the calls. Forbsy does what Forbsy does best – finds rocks and stacks them. Its an impressive construction and delights others passing by.

Here We Go Again – Chapter 41 – Undara to Karumba

The park is full but the sites are large enough to drive through and set up without issue. Our site is right beside the power board and to get the awning up we have to manipulate it over the board. No worries with set up, we are here for a few days.

I love what I did as an accountant, but simply being an accountant is not what I am. Robyn is the same, her passion, sometimes seen as something that is infecting her, is actually her greatest strength, if only those around, who may have slotted her into a genre of their own prejudice, would or could only see.

We plough on into the wind, walking over large salt pans, noticing tyre marks in the hardened mud and seeing other intrepid travellers in both directions, some walking, some on bikes all doing the mad dog and Englishmen thing – walking in the midday sun

Unfortunately he declines, so we are left to eat what we caught, and given the cost of the charter and the amount of fillets available, enjoy them immensely for the cost per kilo is certainly greater that $100.

They are going the opposite way to us. Tomorrow they will head into Normanton and on to Karumba, whilst we are on to Gregory Downs. Their stories of Covid inspired madness are mind blowing and make us wonder if we are to be able to get to where we want

Here We Go Again – Chapter 46 – Burke & Wills Roadhouse to Gregory River

Its a different world. Need to cool down, then simply walk to the water and immerse yourself in your own private piece of the river. Yes people wander past but not in the throngs the masses congregate in the towns.

During the night the power drains to nil and I all but lose the Cpap. There will be more investigations on this in the morning. I suspect we have failed to take a practical approach to setup, choosing the aesthetic option of near a tree and cool, rather than in full sun where the batteries can recharge, has done for us AGAIN.

The battery levels have not come up in the trip to Mary Kathleen as we would have liked. We dig out the generator and fire it up. Its not obtrusive but it is, like others in earshot, making some noise.
